The Tourist Route leads through extraordinary chambers carved entirely in salt, including one of the most famous — St. Kinga’s Chapel. Visitors will also see underground lakes, impressive wooden mining structures, and unique salt sculptures that create the unforgettable atmosphere of this remarkable place.
The route is nearly 3 kilometers long, includes around 800 stairs, and reaches a depth of 135 meters underground. It is one of the most famous attractions of the Wieliczka Salt Mine, attracting millions of visitors from around the world. In exceptional situations, some chambers on the Tourist Route may be temporarily closed to visitors.

Tour of the Miners’ Route.
Route description.
Participants, equipped with professional gear and work overalls, go underground under the supervision of a guide-instructor (known as the “foreman”). The foreman leads the group through the mine’s corridors and introduces participants to the realities of mining work, allowing them to gain their first hands-on experience of the profession.
Brave participants face authentic mining tasks that require teamwork and engagement. These include measuring methane concentration, rope weaving, working with maps, and simple shovel-based tasks. Each task is assessed by the foreman, who oversees the entire expedition.
The tour is an active adventure — there is no room for boredom, and every participant becomes part of the group’s tasks. At the end of the expedition, visitors receive a certificate confirming their first steps into the mining profession.
In exceptional cases, some chambers on the Miners’ Route may be closed to visitors.

We recommend comfortable clothing suitable for the temperature and easy movement. Full footwear covering the entire foot is required. Textile shoes are not recommended. The underground temperature is approximately 14–16°C. On-site, each participant receives protective overalls, which must be worn throughout the tour.
